Currently in Miami — October 9, 2023: Humidity rising, rain to follow
Plus, on Indigenous Peoples Day, #landback for climate justice
The weather, currently.
Humidity on the rise, showers to follow
Favorable conditions for shower development will return on Monday, which will lead to scattered to numerous afternoon showers and thunderstorms with a focus along the east coast metro area as winds blow from the south-southwest. Temperatures should not be too harsh, however, as they will struggle to reach 90 degrees, more likely hovering between the mid-80s near the coast and the upper 80s further inland, and lows in the mid-70s. Similar conditions are expected for most of this week as more moisture makes its way northeast from the Gulf of Mexico, and with scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms occurring daily, localized flooding could become an issue.

One of the best climate strategies is returning stolen land to Indigenous people — this is what climate justice looks like.
This year, in advance of Indigenous Peoples Day, the NDN Collective has launched a Just Transition fund to help build technical capacity for frontline groups to continue the #landback fight.

Indigenous people already protect the vast majority of the world’s biodiversity, with technologies such as prescribed fire and responsible resource harvesting. It’s time for the rest of society to follow their lead.
