Currently in Miami — November 14, 2023: Heavy rain on the way

Plus, last call for the Currently Weather Service pre-launch survey.

Heavy rain on the way

The weather, currently

Tuesday will mark the start of a transition to much more unsettled weather this week as a dip in the jet stream will bring a sharp increase in shower and thunderstorm activity by midweek. Rain will be limited to scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon, but conditions will deteriorate Tuesday night into Wednesday as we get into a period of potentially excessive rainfall. Totals of 2-3 inches are most likely for Miami and Ft Lauderdale by the end of Thursday and could reach as much as 4-6 inches in the worst-case scenario. This will be cause for concern of flooding as well as severe thunderstorms that could produce strong gusts of wind.

What you need to know, currently.

In order for the new Currently Weather Service to live up to our hype, I want to ask for everyone’s pre-launch thoughts one last time.

This survey will be part of the baseline data we’ll use to build the weather service around the community’s needs and make sure it’s something people love to use. Completing the quick survey will also put you first in line to try out the new weather service yourself.

Could you take this two-minute survey right now to help us understand what your dream weather service might be like? Thank you so much to each of you who have already responded.

The launch version of the weather service dropping later this week is just the beginning. We want to continually improve this service in direct response to what people actually need and how people are using it. And, as you’ll quickly see, the suggestions folks have already made are fantastic. Keep ‘em comin’.
